Blind Cricket Tournament

Blind Cricket tournament was organized at Amberpet

The event was launched by Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Dr. Jitender at the Water Works Stadium in Amberpet.


Key Highlights:


  • Purpose:
    The tournament promotes inclusive sports and encourages blind cricket as a means of empowerment and visibility for visually impaired individuals.
     
  • DGP’s Support:
    Dr. Jitender expressed the police department’s commitment to inclusive initiatives and actively engaged with players by tossing the coin, commencing the first match, and even briefly playing cricket. His presence aimed to provide motivation and encouragement to the athletes.
     
  • Organizers:
    The event is organized under the auspices of the Telangana Development Association of the Blind and the Telangana Districts Cricket Association (TDCA).
    TDCA founder Allipuram Venkateshwara Reddy and several dignitaries attended, including:
     
    • Praveen Kumar Nedungadi (COO and MD, Incredible India Projects)
       
    • Director Saridena Rahul Rao
       
    • B Shailaja (General Secretary, Development Association of the Blind)
       
    • Senior citizens’ representatives and cricket coaches
       
    • Representatives from the Helen Keller Research Institute and Khammam TDCA
       
  • Tournament Details:
     
    • Dates: November 4–7, 2024
       
    • Format: Four days of cricket matches featuring eight teams — six men’s teams and two women’s teams.
       
  • Participating Teams:
     
    • Men’s Teams: Deccan Smashers, Game Changers, Ultimate Fighters, Hyderabad Heroes, The Warriors, Telangana Bullets
       
    • Women’s Teams: Warriors Women, Wonder Women
       
  • Impact:
    The initiative is designed not just as a sporting event but as a social movement to inspire, empower, and uplift visually impaired individuals. It emphasizes encouragement, awareness, and community support for inclusive sports.

These outlets provided regular updates, including live broadcasts, match highlights, player interviews, and expert analysis, ensuring that the public remained well-informed about the tournament's progress.
